 A TALE OF TWO...Two years ago, two key family members who wore so many hats here announced their respective retirements from Milan effective in 2025 – plenty of time to prepare, or so we thought! 😉 Kelly was our digital media manager for over 17 years. She wrote product descriptions and email announcements, created graphics, photographed products, built and kept our "old" HTML-based website humming along, curated social media channels, etc. Curt was our shipping manager, resident artist, video creator, and photo editor for 14 years. He kept on top of every online, telephone, and mail order entering/exiting the system, created product videos and in-store signage, curated social media channels, and edited thousands of product images. Both were irreplaceable, so Renée (already wearing more hats than anyone should) immediately began the journey to create a "modern-day" website for our customers that she and David could manage – no coding skills required and plenty of customer-friendly features. Enter multiple outside consultants with assurances that the new website would be ready for launch well before Kelly and Curt's retirements in July. Instead, two years of setbacks and delays beyond our wildest imagination / control ensued. The onboarding of our new general manager Floyd (🎉) was also scheduled to begin on the 1st of July, but, alas, the only two things that did occur remotely on schedule were the retirements of key staff. 😞 We're sharing this tale with you because the new Milan website is still not ready for launch and only minimal updates are being made to the current site. We have so many new products in our brick & mortar store that we aren't able to share with our online customers yet, which is incredibly disappointing. Please accept our humble apologies. On a positive note, Jourdan has returned from paternity leave (twins!), Floyd has arrived and is undergoing intensive training with David and Renée, and that new website we've all been dreaming about is very close to being ready and will be introduced in the new year! Being a small, family-owned business does have its limitations and challenges as our tale tells, but the rewards make it all worthwhile.
