Peterson of Dublin was founded by Charles Peterson in 1875. In
1890, he developed the Peterson Patent System - a graduated bore
in the mouthpiece helps to collect tar and moisture in a reservoir
and away from the bowl of the pipe. The shape of the "P-lip" vulcanite
mouthpiece, invented in 1898, is uniquely designed to direct the
smoke up and away from the tongue, drastically reducing "tongue
bite." The tongue rests in the indentation under the mouthpiece
opening. The P-lip mouthpiece has made this brand renowned worldwide
for a smooth, mellow smoking experience. Standard mouthpieces are
also available.
Traditional tools and methods of manufacture contribute to the
individuality and unique characteristics of the Peterson Pipe. Briars
are carefully examined for imperfections and selected briars of
exceptional grain known as "straight grains" are carefully
stored, waiting to be specially hand-carved by Peterson's most skilled
craftsmen. The hand crafted straight grain pipe and the increasingly
rare skill required to make it, is something unique.

the distributor. Under the Peterson Special Order image, click on
the link to view the pipe shape chart, then click on the 'Add to
Shopping Bag', select the mouthpiece option (fishtail or p-lip)
in your shopping bag, and note the pipe shape you wish to purchase
in the box provided. We will contact you by email with the estimated
arrival date of your pipe after we confirm its availability with
